The first day of the Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2012 began here today with seven designers showcasing stylish yet wearable outfits. The seven budding designers are Aniket Satam, Sneha Arora, Asa Kazingmei, Kavita Sharma, Richa Aggarwal, Astha Sethi and Sidharth Arora and a group called 'Threesome'. The show began with Ashta and Sidharth's line of women's wear, called 'Comical Fellow'. It had jackets with emphasis on shoulder, pants, short dresses all in shades of blue, yellow and black. The 'Threesome' group including Mehak Pruthi, Kanika Seth and Ankit Sharma displayed their collection for men and women, inspired by 'Avatar', the 3D Hollywood film. Bringing in a touch of desi styling, Richa Aggarwal's designs were multi-patterned pants, stylish waist coats, cool tops and colourful capris that revealed traditional textiles and crafts. "I tried to represent India's streets through my collection. My clothes are simple, yet wearable," Richa said. Kavita Sharma's range 'It's a Beautiful Life', had embellished dresses, long skirts and seductive tops. "The collection was based on the idea of rebirth depicted in the Bhagwad Gita," Kavita said. Sneha Arora's collection called 'Paradigm' had womenswear from cute comfy dresses, to skirts, tops and then crisp jackets, trousers and striking dresses. Presenting his collection titled 'Immortal', Asa Kazingmei was inspired by the beauty of Naga textiles of the Tangkhul Naga tribe near the Ukhrul district in Manipur. The show's last collection called 'Aarambh', was presented by Aniket Satam. "My collection was based on the phenomenon that the world will end in 2012. I worked on layered silhouettes and tactile designs narrating visceral orgy of our complex minds," he said. Source: Indian Express
