The statue has been unveiled outside the famous Pompidou art museum and shows the grimace on the Italian defender's face as Zidane plants his shaven head into his chest. Zidane had been planning to step down from the national team after the tournament but he bowed out early - and literally - after Materazzi allegedly made a derogatory remark about his sister. It meant Zidane, one of the most gifted midfielders of his generation who shone for Juventus and Real Madrid and helped France to World Cup glory in 1998, missed the penalty shoot-out in
